The average person is exposed to hundreds of advertising messages per day. From the billboard on the side of the bus to the easily skimmed, forgettable newspaper ad - It is becoming more and more difficult to stand out from the crowd.

Dean's enthusiasm for creating images stems from a fascination with fusing documentary and studio techniques and the way in which light and colour can influence a viewer's perception and emotions. He strives to tell stories in all his images, feeling that the most important part of any photo is in what it communicates.
Following a very different path to the majority of photographers, Dean's insatiable curiosity and fascination with the natural world led him to first follow his dreams of becoming a biologist, having studied Zoology at the University of Western Australia. Photography, he soon realised, was his real passion, as the camera became a means for him to not only document the fascinating wildlife and places that he encountered - but also to engender a sense of wonder in others for those same things. Images, as he discovered - are powerful communicators.
Dean is based in Perth, Western Australia and operates out of Traffic Studio in West Leederville.
